Paul Polster

Bassist Paul Polster studied at the Jazz Institute Berlin (UdK/Hanns Eisler) and the Institute of Music in Osnabrück.

Influenced by artists such as Prince, James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic, MonoNeon, and Marcus Miller, he draws inspiration from gospel, soul, and funk.

He is an active part of the Berlin and Hamburg music scenes, performing in jazz, funk, and pop projects and developing his own groove-oriented approach to the instrument. Paul has worked with a wide range of ensembles and artists, appearing on stages across Europe.

His playing moves fluidly between the energy of funk bands, the freedom of jazz improvisation, and the accessibility of contemporary pop productions.

In August 2025, Paul was hired as the bassist for Denice Brooks and THEE Aretha Franklin Tribute Band, with the American soul singer Denice Brooks.
